Three Iranian films to compete at India’s Kerala filmfest

Three Iranian films are set to compete at the 2018 edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) in India.

Three Iranian films are set to compete at the 23rd edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) in India.

‘Tale of the Sea’, directed by Bahman Farmanara, ‘The Dark Room’ by Rouhollah Hejazi and ‘As I Lay Dying’ made by Mostafa Sayari will take part in the international competition section of the Indian gala.

The three Iranian movies will compete along with works from Turkey, India, Argentina, Kyrgyzstan, Egypt, Malaysia, Bhutan and Brazil.

Spanish ‘Everybody Knows’ by award-winning Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi was selected as opening film at the event.

It is also worth noting Iranian high-profile director Majid Majidi is presiding over the jury at international competition section of the 23rd IFFK.

The IFFK, acknowledged as one of the leading cultural events in India, is an annual event held in Thiruvananthapuram ( or Trivandrum) in the Indian state of Kerala.

Started in 1996, the festival is hosted in November/December every year by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy on behalf of Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Kerala.

The 23rd edition of the IFFK is slated for December 7-13, 2018.
